It's been awhile kiddies but fret not as The Nerds are busy cooking up something special so keep an eye out. In the mean time here are some thoughts on various news bits over the last few days/weeks/decades...

1. Iron Men Trailer

-As you can tell by this weeks banner I am indeed aware that there was a new trailer for Iron Man 2 and the Nerds agree that it looks amazing. The trailer basically seems like a Spark Notes version of the film aka I feel like I've seen the whole film, I'm expecting there to be some fun surprises in order but I could have done without the Armor Suitcase reveal even though it was F'ing awesome. I mean how much cooler would that scene had been if the first time you saw it was on the big screen. Also there sure seems to be quite a bit of Iron Guys running around what with Iron Man himself, War Machine and Sam Rockwell's Bots not to mention Mickey Rourke will more than likely end up in a suit man of some kind of metal at some point. Iron Overload?!? Perhaps, I'm sure people will disagree but thems my thoughts and if for some reason you have been living under a rock the trailer lies below!

2. Naked Golden Man Awards

-The Oscars came and went and went basically as expected...well almost. I was actually expecting some upset in regards to the whole Best Actor, Actress, Director and Film but they went basically as everybody expected. I'm sure someone thought for whatever reason that Pocah...Avatar would win Best Picture but come on sure it was amazing to look at but story wise it was pretty basic stuff. I will say I was pulling for QT to get the win for director was wasn't holding my breath. I've yet to see The Hurt Locker (which I'm going to fix this week) but I don't think my opinion on Inglorious Bastards being the best film of 2009 will change. Come on Hurt Locker I dare you to change my opinion, I DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU!

The Dude Abides!

3. Speaking of the Dude

-The new Tron Legacy Trailer has made it's way onto the Interwebs and boy is it fun looking. I was lucky enough to catch it in 3D in front of Alice and it looked even cooler in 3 Dimensions!!! Never seen the original but I plan to at some point before this sequel hits in December. Who's that sexy looking chick on the cyber couch...MMMMmmmm

Eye Candy!

4. Chris Nolan...DC Savior

-Words such as Batman and Superman have finally made there way out of the hole in the middle of Christopher Nolan's face and the words they were good...and brief...brief indeed.

First on the subject of the Caped Crusader:
"Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story, and in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story. We have a great ensemble, that's one of the attractions of doing another film, since we've been having a great time for years."
He also mentions that as far as villains go we shouldn't be expecting Mr. Freeze. Fine by me, keep the Nolan-verse based in semi-reality.

And the Big Blue Boyscout as seen by David Goyer:
"He basically told me, 'I have this thought about how you would approach Superman. I immediately got it, loved it and thought: That is a way of approaching the story I've never seen before that makes it incredibly exciting. I wanted to get Emma and I involved in shepherding the project right away and getting it to the studio and getting it going in an exciting way.
"A lot of people have approached Superman in a lot of different ways. I only know the way that has worked for us that's what I know how to do."
And dont expect a Nolan-verse Justice League flick:
"Each serves to the internal logic of the story. They have nothing to do with each other"
As long as we get a 3rd Nolan Bat flick and a Superman film in which he actually gets into a fight I'll be happy. I Believe in Christopher Nolan!

So theres my mini recap of the past week or so. Can you say...NERDGASM!

Also like I alluded to in the beginning of this post there is some exciting stuff coming down the Pipe Line. Think Original Entertainment! Stick with us and enjoy the ride!

See what I did there...
Yeah you see it...
Now watch it...

Honestly the trailers get better and better. More of Mark Strong being awesome plus the last one liner is pretty damn funny considering its delivered by a 12 year old girl.

Oh and heres a new Pic of Jeff Bridges from the new Tron:

He looks to enjoy contemplating...

1. Avatar > The Dark Knight

Well I hate to keep bringing it up but James Cameron's small little indie project has been making headlines since day 1 and today it officially passed The Dark Knight making it the second highest grossing film domestically behind only Cameron's own Titanic. Avatar is likely to top Titanic sometime this month both domestically and worldwide unless for some reason people just decide to stop watching it which doesn't seem to be the case.

"It's right there behind my large pile of money"

I'm always interested in movie grosses for whatever reason and what Avatar is doing is simply AMAZING, maybe its the escapism of it all but for whatever reason people can't get enough. I've yet to see it a second time but I will say it's not out of the realm of possibility that I end up shoveling out the 15 or so bucks to enter Pandora yet again.

In other film grossing news Sherlock Holmes is up to about 190 mil and should pass 200 this week which is great news for fans of the flick (like me) who want a sequel. Also somehow Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 is over 200 million.

2. No Bilbo for you! (until 2012)

It's the news that seemed to be coming for sometime but it seems a bit more official now to declare that The Hobbit will not be in cinema's till sometime in 2012. Sad news for fans of Del Toro and Hobbits alike.

(You can just watch this until 2012)

From Variety:
Once the script for the second film is in -- Jackson and his longtime collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are working on it with Del Toro -- New Line will work up a budget for both films and start casting. New Line exec Michael Disco, who was once Emmerich's assistant, will oversee for the studio.

Horn won't predict when the first of the two "Hobbit" films will be out, but says the most probable scenario would be a release in the fourth quarter of 2012.

"It's a big bet for us. But it's one we think will pay off given the success of 'Lord of the Rings,'" says Emmerich. "This is one of the few movies it feels like people are waiting for."

Hopefully we will get some casting news sometime before the damn film is released!

3. Primeval heads BACK TO THE FUTURE!

In news that will excited anyone who has watched Primeval (British Invasion Week anyone!?!) we have some news about the recently revived show.

"GREAT SCOTT!"

From Sci-Fi Wire

There will be an aspect of the future in [the fourth season], which is new for us... [I]f you think of the future predators from other series, we're going to have a kind of variation on that idea. There may also be some human intervention from the future as well.

Exciting news, I loved the future aspect of the show and always wanted them to take more visits if only for some neat new creature designs. I'm so glad they have commissioned more episodes.

4. Daft Track

Want to listen to some of the music from the new Tron flick courtesy of Daft Punk? I know you do just hang on a second:

Sounds pretty sweet. I'm not gonna lie I don't know much about Daft Punk or Tron but the film looks good and this music sounds good, thats 2 for 2 in my book so far.
