The TOP 10 movies that SHOULD NEVER BE remade

The following films should in no way ever be touch again by cinematic “Masterminds” all that would ever be done would be the tarnishing of the originals impact. Anyway on with the list…

10. Star Wars

Need I say more, sure Lucas screwed the pooch with the Prequels but they don’t hinder the original in my eyes. I don’t care and admittedly would be pretty excited if he made a sequel trilogy but I never want to see another movie release titled The Empire Strikes Back starring Zac Efron as Han Solo…

9. Evil Dead

Count me as one of the ones who in no way wants to see a remake/reboot of Evil Dead. The original trilogy is just perfect for what they were trying to do and you just cant replace Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi in their prime.

8. Fight Club

I was late to the game in watching Fight Club, didn’t watch it for the first time until last year and since then I’ve seen the film probably 9 or 10 times. I went many years denying to myself the greatness of this film and regret it now. There would be no positive outcome if someone thought they could one up Fincher.

7. Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz

Any pairing of Wright/Frost/Pegg should NEVER under ANY circumstances try to be recreated at home, it’s just a recipe for disaster. That god this films got U.S. releases and cemented the trio’s star status in American or I could have totally seen an attempted remake. Just look at the Spaced remake if you want to know how bad things could get.

6. There Will Be Blood

NO ONE should ever play Daniel Plainview again unless his name is Daniel Day Lewis.

5. Pulp Fiction

I could imagine a remake of Reservoir Dogs actually working with a beefed up cast and larger scale. I’m not saying that I think it or any Q.T. movie for that matter will ever me remade but if the thought ever crossed someone’s mind to dabble then I just suggest they avoid Pulp Fiction like the plague because its one of his movies that if you remove his “touch” just wouldn’t be nearly as good.

It’s my favorite movie so ofcourse I feel very protective of it but I just can’t for the life of me imagine any other actors in the roles of Renton, Sick Boy, Begbie and the rest. When I read the book it’s those actors whose voices fill my head. Now if you want to make Porno into a movie already I’d be down for that, you hear me Danny Boyle. Please

2. Goodfellas

Yeah Yeah, I’m Italian blah blah BUT actually I HATE most mob movies including The Godfather and Scarface but there is just something about Goodfellas that works SOOO well and unless you could get every single actor back and shoot a shot for shot remake then I have no Interest what-so-ever.

1. The Shawshank Redemption

Could it be anything else? The Top flick on IMDB’s top 250 films of all time list FOR A REASON. It’s one of those movies that whenever its on no matter what part, edited for TV or not I could just watch and be memorized. The best Stephen King Adaptation BY FAR, the best Tim Robbins role BY FAR, the best Frank Darabont film BY FAR, the best prison flick BY FAR, the list goes on and on.

"So what are you thinking, Curveball?"

Robbins and Morgan Freeman were tailor made to play their roles, it’s as if God was thinking one day “Hmm one day there will be a movie based on Shawshank so I better get to creating a perfect Andy and Red” I’m sorry I’m gushing but let it be known if any producer out in Hollywood EVER tries to get funny with Shawshank…I WILL FIND YOU!

10. Rose

Season 1, Episode 1

Written by Russell T. Davies, Directed by Keith Boak

It’s the first episode of the revival and includes all the Who mainstays such as Crazy Creatures, Running down corridors, and all sorts of zany action. The episode basically tells the audience what they are in for.

9. Dalek

Season 1, Episode 6

Written by Robert Shearman, Directed by Joe Ahearne

My first introduction to one of the Doctors most deadly foe the Dalek’s! The episode really helps make the Dalek’s out to be a threat as only 1 is able to cause so much havoc, too bad some later episodes took away some of their badass-ness.

8. The Fires of Pompeii

Season 4, Episode 2

Written by James Moran, Directed by Colin Teague

What makes a good Doctor Who episode to me is one that raises questions involving the absolute power of the Timelords and this episode does just that. The Doctor wrestling with the idea of not being able to save people due to timelines and what not is great. Also it was the first full episode I ever sat and watched so bonus points for sentimentality.

7. Army of Ghost/Doomsday

Season 2, Episodes 12 and 13

Written by Russell T. Davies, Directed by Graeme Harper

A lot of people lash out against Davies ever increasing craziness when it comes to his season finales but I say just sit back and enjoy the ride. This two part finale gives the Who nerds a great Dalek vs. Cyberman showdown (which is pretty one sided) and it also delivers one of the most heart breaking moments in new Who’s short history.

6. Blink

Season 3, Episode 10

Written by Steven Moffat, Directed by Hettie MacDonald

Many people will say Blink is the absolute best of the new Who era and its hard to disagree but what can I say I got to be the outcast. Blink is a fantastic example in just how interesting the concept of time travel can be used in the show and also introduces us to the best monsters of the new series, The Weeping Angels.

5. Human Nature/The Family of Blood

Season 3, Episodes 8 and 9

Written by Paul Cornell, Directed by Charles Palmer

This twp part episode doesn’t even feature the “true” Doctor all that much yet it ranks at 5?!? Well it’s another question asker, like if the Doctor could have a human life so easily doesn’t he just do so? We also get our first real look at the Vengeful Doctor and boy he gets pretty angry.

4. Midnight

Season 4, Episode 8

Written by Russell T. Davies, Directed by Alice Troughton

One of the few small scale Davies penned episodes, Midnight is just downright creepy. The show has had it’s fair share of creepy episodes (Blink and 42 come to mind) but I find the Doctor’s exchange with the Presence in the shuttle perfectly done and the fact that the Doctor actually loses control (something he rarely does) is just scary.

3. Silence in the Library/ Forest of the Dead

Season 4, Episodes 9 and 10

Written by Steven Moffatt, Directed by Euros Lyn

Another two part episode, another Moffatt story, another great Who story! I love the Vashta Nerada and the way they appear, defiantly one of the creepiest monsters in the series. Donna’s story throughout the two episodes is also a heart breaker, especially the last scene with the stuttering guy.

2. The Waters of Mars

2009 Special 2

Witten by Russell T. Davies and Phi Ford, Directed by Graeme Harper

The best of Tennant’s swan song as the Doctor. We got the kiddy fun of The Next Doctor and Planet of the Dead out of the way and were into full blown bleak territory. The Doctor faces the same questions he did in Fires of Pompeii and this time decides to go and get a big head and play god! Dark and moving this special didn’t disappoint and set the stage for The End of Time and a different kind of Doctor, a fearful one. Stupid Gadget

1. Fathers Day

Season 1, Episode 8

Written by Paul Cornell, Directed by Joe Ahearne

The first season was a bit rocky but Fathers Day was by far the best example of my asking questions formula. The Doctor brings Rose back in time to see her father and she decides to screw up the world by saving him thus summoning the Reapers to basically destroy every living thing on earth. This episode was the first to really give us an example of how bad things could get if the Doctor messed with timelines. The episode features tons of emotional baggage that will soften even the toughest person, just place yourself in Roses shoes and tell me you wouldn’t have done the same thing in the same situation.

One thing about this episode is it sets up the Reapers and we never see them again EVEN THOUGH the Doctor saves people that should have died a few times, but I suppose asking too many questions of a show like Who would take away from the shows charm.

Oh and Murray Gold’s Father Day theme is perfect. Love the music he has composed for the series and I’m glad to see he will be back for the 5^th season.

2004 was a great year wasn't it? Sam Raimi finishes his 2 film love affair with Spider-Man on a high note before he starts slumming it with Emo Parker.

7. Minority Report

(Steven Spielberg, 2002)

Say what you will about Cruise but the man is still one of the best actors of the past 20 years and Spielberg created a world that I still think I could be living in before I die.

6. Where the Wild Things Are

(Spike Jonze, 2009)

A beautiful film that will punch you in the gut, dance around while you grasp for breath, help you up and then give you a warm hug.

5. Sunshine

(Danny Boyle, 2007)

Say what you will about the final act but this is my favorite Danny Boyle flick and helps give a much needed kick in the pants to the sci-fi genre.

4. Hot Fuzz

(Edgar Wright, 2007)

Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright. Nuff said!

3. The Dark Knight

(Christopher Nolan, 2008)

Everything to say about this movie has already been said, simply the perfect comic book movie.

2. Shaun of the Dead

I get all the love for the more recent Pixar movies but my favorite will always been Monsters Inc. I can watch this movie anytime I see it on and it never gets old. Nothing is quite as heartwarming as when Sully opens the door at the end only to open the door and hear the familiar word "kitty". Excuse me I've got something in my eye
